ROCKWOOL Safe ‘n’ Sound Fire & Soundproof Stone Wool Insulation
3″ x 15.25″ x 47″

Wood Stud Insulation (59.7 sq. ft. per Bag) is a stone wool insulation product used for interior wall partitions of residential wood and steel stud construction. It is especially useful when superior fire resistance and acoustical performance are required. This non-combustible, lightweight product has excellent acoustical dampening properties and is dimensionally stable which makes it ideal for friction fit in wall, ceiling and floor applications. The product is chemically inert; therefore it will not promote corrosion.

  • Water resistant and allows for effective drainage from an exterior wall assembly.
  • Compatible with a variety of cladding systems including Z-girts, masonry ties, and fiberglass and stainless steel clips.
  • Durable inorganic material that does not rot or promote the growth of mildew, fungi or bacteria

Why does design flexibility matter?

Stone wool is an incredibly versatile material, making it suitable for a wide range of residential, commercial and industrial applications.

ROCKWOOL stone wool products are available in a variety of forms and densities—from soft, flexible insulation to strong, rigid solutions. With options including batts, rolls, boards and loose-fill, stone wool can be easily cut and shaped to accommodate the unique requirements of virtually any building design.

This versatility gives architects, designers and builders greater freedom to create effective insulation solutions, even for complex spaces and challenging applications.

And the flexibility extends beyond insulation. ROCKWOOL also offers a broad selection of façade panels, acoustic ceiling and wall solutions, and other products designed to combine performance with architectural appeal.

Whatever the project demands, there’s likely a ROCKWOOL solution designed to fit.

FIRE RESILIENCE
Non-combustible stone wool products will not burn, helping to slow the fire’s spread. In addition, if exposed to fire, they also will not emit significant amounts of toxic smoke. These two attributes give more time for rescue crews to do their jobs and for building occupants to evacuate.

Why Does Durability Matter?

The buildings where we live, work, learn and receive care are important parts of our everyday lives. They’re significant investments, which is why they should be constructed with materials designed to stand the test of time.

Made from volcanic rock, stone wool is exceptionally durable. ROCKWOOL insulation is non-combustible and moisture repellent, while providing excellent thermal and acoustic performance that is designed to remain effective over time. It can also be recycled repeatedly without compromising its performance.

Choosing durable building materials can help extend the life of a building, reduce unnecessary resource consumption and minimize waste. Longer-lasting materials can also mean fewer repairs, less frequent maintenance and renovation, helping reduce costs and disruption for building owners and occupants.

When buildings are made to last, the benefits can last for generations.

Why Does Moisture Repellence Matter?

Moisture can be present in almost any construction project. The concern arises when that moisture becomes trapped or remains within the building over time.

Excess moisture can cause building materials to deteriorate, potentially affecting the durability and structural integrity of the building. It can also contribute to conditions that encourage mould and mildew growth, which may negatively impact indoor air quality and occupant comfort.

Moisture-repellent stone wool insulation helps resist water absorption and reduces the potential for moisture-related damage. By helping protect against mould, mildew and rot, it supports the long-term performance and durability of the building while contributing to a healthier indoor environment.

Better moisture management means better protection for the building—and the people inside it.

Net Zero/Passive House

Building to either the Net Zero or Passive House Standard helps you achieve a superbly well-insulated home with a tightly sealed building envelope. This is not only good for the environment but provides you with a lifetime of energy savings.

  • Net Zero (NZE or NZEr) homes & buildings use up to 80% less energy than ones built to the Ontario Building Code minimum requirements.
  • Passive House (Passivhaus) homes & buildings use up to 90% less energy than ones built to the Ontario Building Code minimum requirements.
